LION' Actor Sunny Pawar Goes Back To Slums After Attending 89th Oscars Ceremony
On Sunday, Sunny Pawar, eight, won hearts at the Oscars when in front of the Dev Patel, he was raised up by the host Jimmy Kimmel to recreate an iconic scene from the film Lion King.

Now almost after a week later, Sunny Pawar was welcomed back to his slum house with the crown of flowers and also receives many requests to lunch with the bureaucrats.
The star of the 89th Academy Awards ceremony, is now a superstar back in his home and country.

"It's been crazy. People have not stopped calling since we arrived home. We've not stopped to rest for one minute. I love seeing my family get the respect they deserve. I would not have done any of this without their support. Nobody has treated us like we're a poor family or live in a slum during this journey. I can only hope it continues and my family are treated well wherever they go," says Sunny in an interview by Daily Mail.

Sunny and his dad Dilip Pawar, 32, arrived home to Kalina, a slum area in Mumbai. People, relatives, and friends had organised a small party to congratulate him..
Sunny said:
"I've not had time even to think yet. The phone hasn't stopped ringing, and media and politicians have continued coming to our door."The 89th Academy Awards night.
Sunny was the superstar of the Oscars 2017 in Los Angeles. Almost every Hollywood celebrity there desired to have a photo taken with the little pint-sized cutie.

Sunny shares about the Oscars.
He says "I still don't know who half of the people were," (Giggles). "They were all lovely to me. And they made me feel like a superstar, but I had not seen their films, I didn't recognise many of them."
When asked about what was it like to work with Dev Patel ?

"Dev Patel is the best star I have met. He's my best friend now. He's my superstar," said Sunny.
For all those of you who're wondering how did Sunny get this film?
Well, he got picked from 2,000 children who were auditioned for this role. Sunny was cast to perform the younger part of Saroo Brierley, his 'new best friend' actor Dev Patel has played the older Saroo and was nominated for an Oscar for his emotional portrayal."
Unfortunately, Sunny's father has lost his job.
Sunny Pawar's father, Dilip says "I am a very proud father that my son has so much talent. Travelling with Sunny has meant I am now out of work, but I have no regrets."
He adds, "My son was selected out of all the kids in India, what else could a father dream of? Never in my life did I think this would happen to us. I never imagined I'd get so much respect in this life."
The conditions in which he lives are not that good.
Dilip, and his wife Vasu Dilip Pawar, 27, lives in on of the slums of Mumbai. They share a bathroom with other people in their housing block.
While Sunny was at school, a casting agent visited to announce auditions for an English movie. Those 15 minutes of auditions have changed their lives forever.
He didn't believe this at first and then...
Sunny says: "I was in class when someone in school said I'd been chosen. I wouldn't believe it at first. I felt they were joking, but when I realised it was true, I felt so blessed. I'd always wanted to be an actor." (As per Interview by Daily Mail).
Sunny Pawar's father didn't like it when they came to know it's not a Bollywood film.
Sharing the insights, Dilip said "I wasn't happy it was an English movie compared to an opportunity in Bollywood. We knew Bollywood, and I would've felt better if it was a film in India. But Sunny's passion convinced me."
Sunny said: 'Give me a chance Dad'. I couldn't stop him, so I said yes."
Respect that his family is now getting is incomparable.
Sunny and his father have spent a lot of time together while filming, and both of them have said that the crew treated them like a family. No one made them realise that they're poor. Some kind gestures like; nobody started eating until both of them have taken their plates was something very respectful.
Dilip says, "My son is more confident now. He used to be a shy boy and was scared to speak to new people, but now he is a different kid altogether."
Sunny Pawar and his family didn't reveal how much he was paid for filming this.
"There's plenty of work out there for me, I'll find something but changes like this don't come often. I am very proud that Sunny has had this extraordinary opportunity."
Well, it's an inspiring story which defines how great magic can happen when right talent hits the right opportunities.
